Keep Your Business Active When Times Are Tough

work at home and school at home lifestyle covid-19

We here at RS&I appreciate all of our wonderful retailers and partners. The work and services you’re providing to customers every day are essential, now more than ever. People need to remain connected, and we are proud to represent products that help people accomplish that with internet connectivity, TV services, and cellular phones.

As we all know, the business climate has gone through massive change in recent weeks, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. However, there are many strategies you can use to take the reins and keep your business moving forward at times like these. Here are just a few ideas.

Continue Marketing Efforts

While many businesses across all industries have completely paused their marketing efforts during this pandemic, it is actually now more important than ever to be in contact with your customers. According to research presented by Harvard Business School, consumers do in fact want to hear from brands and their local businesses at times like this, as long as the messaging helps them to feel at ease and offers them a solution to a problem they may be facing. So, the key here is to ensure that you approach it in the right way.

The tone of your marketing and advertising efforts is the biggest thing to focus on right now. It’s imperative to not overtly leverage a difficult and frustrating situation to push sales, or to make light or be dismissive of the severity of the situation right now. Instead, convey a sense of caring to your customers and offer them the solutions they need to keep their work and personal lives moving forward.

As for marketing tactics, you can still use most any avenue that has traditionally worked well for your business. However, now is a good time to put particular emphasis on mediums that lend themselves to reaching consumers at home. Such options can include social media ad campaigns, direct mail, radio, TV, pay per click web ads, and even digital radio platforms like Pandora or Spotify. With so many people spending most of their day at home, most are likely to be consuming more digital media than ever and so you have a unique opportunity to reach a wider audience if you’re on those platforms. There are so many different ways to connect directly with your customers, and remain relevant in tumultuous environment. And even if you’re inexperienced or unsure about advertising on these platforms mentioned (or any others), RS&I is happy to assist our dealers every day with campaign creation and execution. We’re here to help you and your business!

Community Outreach

Another way to remain active and relevant in your local area is to remain engaged in your community or participate in efforts to help. Many individuals and families all across the country are facing challenges, and any efforts you can make to help out at times like this will solidify your business as a caring member of the community. Some activities you could participate in include: donating blood, preparing meals for people, cleaning up neighborhoods or parks, or donating to food banks. These kinds of efforts can make a huge difference in people’s lives, regardless of how much time or materials you are able to donate. Even small gestures can help! If you do choose to participate in these kinds of activities with your organization, we urge everybody to follow the mandates from your local governments and stick to the guidelines from the CDC.

Again, it’s important to remember the deep necessity people have for the products and services you provide. Through our authorized retailer sales programs with DISH, HughesNet, Sprint, CenturyLink, GotW3, Vivint Smart Home, and Ooma Office, RS&I retailers are uniquely positioned to provide solutions that consumers need at this time – to continue to get work done while social distancing, keep in contact with family and friends, secure their homes, and remain up to date on news going on around them.
